The ICD mission is to provide education, research and strategies to benefit people challenged by chronic disorganization. The ICD has a hoarding scale that is used as a tool to help communicate between organizations, city personnel, police and fire departments, cleaning companies and organizers.

The mission of the Hoarding Task Force of Allegheny County is to better understand the nature and extent of hoarding disorder, increase education and awareness and coordinate community resources in Allegheny County, so community services are better able to respond to individuals with a hoarding disorder.
